There are only two Lancaster bombers left flying in 2020… and this isn’t one of them. It is however still very capable of shaking the ground beneath your feet and making you grin from ear to ear. Especially when you are standing only 5 metres from its four roaring Merlin engines!

This particular aeroplane is at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and we were lucky enough to visit back in 2019. The aircraft has the serial number NX611 and was built in April 1945.

As mentioned above there are only two airworthy Lancaster bombers remaining in 2020, in fact there are only seventeen left at all out of the 7,377 built.

If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend a visit to Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, especially if they have a special event day.
