I took up photography in 2001 when I went on holiday to the USA. I knew that I would be passing through some spectacular scenery and also knew that if used my compact camera the points of interest in many of my photos would just be a dot on the horizon – I decided to make use of the exchange rates at the time and spend some money on a SLR with a couple of zoom lenses. Although this helped create much better holiday snaps my enthusiasm for photography only really took off when I replaced my film SLR with a digital SLR a few years ago, this gave me the opportunity to really start experimenting without being fearful of wasting lots of expensive film (although my opinions on the digital/film debate have now changed). I now spend as much time as I can taking photos, looking at other people’s photos or reading about photography.
I live in Yorkshire with my wife and twin boys.
